I don't think the bear and bunny are a married couple, (but as a reader, you're entitled to your own interpretation).  I was going to do more, but the publisher didn't want any.  (They said they'd like to see something else, ""just as good.""  I'm looking for another publisher, just as good, or preferably better.)  I hope I get to work with Will Hillenbrand again.
