We are very fond of the Mrs. Noodlekugel books (Bear too) in our house and are wondering when we might see another delightful story published.

Probably never. Sorry. Not my fault. Publisher doesn't want any more. No idea why--they seem to sell plenty. Publishers are strange. I will write some other things.

What is your favorite hobby to do besides writing and drawing?

My favorite hobby is learning about dogs, training dogs, playing and walking with my dog. I only have one dog at present, but maybe soon we will adopt another one. At one time we had four dogs. Dogs are interesting, and also nice.

My son who enjoyed your books so much when he was in middle school is now several years into college. He’s reading heavy books by Russian authors. Consequently, he’s always depressed. I’ve slipped a copy of one of your collections of stories into his rucksack the last time he was home. So far he hasn’t said anything, but I’m hopeful he’ll read them again.

I loved checking out your books when we went to the library when I was very small, and read them over and over.
Now, some many decades later I find I'm about to be a father myself and have been stressing everyone out with my worrywarting. Then, in a conversation I had with a friend about books we loved growing up it occured to me that getting to share your stories with another tiny person is going to be a lot of fun, and that things might just turn out ok. I needed that.
I'm so excited to find you have a podcast, a deep and heartfelt thanks for many warm memories, wishing you the very best!!!

I don't know anything about parenting, never having done it, and the children I've come in contact with have understandably usually been of reading age. (I have had a number of dogs and I sometimes read to them, but honestly I don't think the content matters.) However, I have had a great many reports from parents of children who report that reading to and with the kiddies is very satisfactory. I have an older sister, (now a really old sister,) who read to me throughout my childhood, and that is the reason I grew up to be a writer and person of culture instead of a boor and quasi-gangster like the rest of our family--so I think you're probably on the right track. Say hello for me to the new person, and I hope you'll both enjoy reading time.

Be it logical or not (god forbid) I find myself having a fit over borglnuskies, whether or not I can spell them correctly. My younger siblings are experiencing the joys of the two Snarkout Boys bookstore the first time, and I am here pondering over pig-related byproducts are left to name cities and towns after. Unfortunately, not very many! I understand this to be the true meaning for a lack of following Snarkout Boys stories, however, it's not too late to consult the meat industry for ideas. I have read some excerpt from somewhere mentioning some unstated inner sense of re-writing the same story. Ah, yes, don't we all. Try taking up a new, more lucrative and sensible passion, like training cats how to use rotary dial phones, or naming towns and cities after cow-related byproducts. If you have read this far, I hope you understand that I am not in fact a peculiar teenager with a knack for killing conversations by sheerly trying to express that I exist, but a higher being capable of wasting office supplies like nobody's business, torturing cats, and pretending that they have some sense of purpose despite knowing that they –

Dear Mr. Pinkwater,
I just wanted to thank you. I read Lizard Music when I was nine years old checked out from my school's library in Fayetteville, Ohio. The amount of time it was checked out on my behalf was enough there was concern it was preventing other people from reading it, too. It's inspired me two write and draw my own webcomic, and likely a sequel if I ever get around to it. I've even named a character Reynold, but his storyline was not a particularly nice one in the end, but I digress… I'm glad to know that I can let you know this personally, and I hope your work continues to inspire kids for years. –Brent "Mariner the Raccoon" Bowser

Jill is not here at the moment, so I will reply for her, (and probably get it wrong). I'm pretty sure she called it Burnridge, so Bainbridge couldn't sue her.

Dear Mr. Pinkwater,
During the years I taught 1st grade and kindergarten many of your books were well-loved residents on our classroom bookshelves, and story time favorites. Now I am retired. I read to a couple of kindergarten classes every week. I don't know how I missed Bear and Bunny before, but last week I checked it out of the library and read it to my classes. Both the children and I were enchanted. I promised them that I would see if there are any other Bear and Bunny books. So I found Bear In Love and read it to them today. The children quickly realized that Bear In Love precedes Bear and Bunny, but they enjoyed being "in the know" throughout the story. Mr. Pinkwater, we loved these stories very much and would like to know if you plan anymore Bear and Bunny collaborations with Will Hillenbrand. We sincerely hope so. Yours truly, Terrie Plumer

Possibly someday I'll feel very ambitious, and rummage through the 1,000s of pieces of art, unfinished manuscripts, notes, sketches, bits of this and that, but so far I haven't. I'm sloppy and disorganized, and have always been focused on the thing I'm making now. So, I can't be of help. If you'd like to send me a copy of one of the books, (instructions somewhere on this website as to how/where to send), with a note asking me to do a scribble as well as an autograph, I could do that for you.

Dear Daniel, at 71 I am finally expecting my first grandchild. (No one knows why.) Recently I was admonished to bring a book to the baby shower for this child. I knew immediately what book I would bring altho I have not read it in nearly three decades. Thank you soooo much for The Big Orange Splot!

Hard to believe no one knows why--maybe it's just you. You are expecting your first grandchild because a child of yours is expecting a child. (I took an Anthropology course in college, and there was a section on kinship.) Anyway, your choice of The Big Orange Splot as a baby shower gift honors me. Congratulations, grandparent!
